Magazine Cover
This composite image was developed to entice retirees to purchase wine tours in Italy. To achieve the desired effect, I utilized a scenic Italian backdrop to hint at the wine producing region and increased the color saturation to make it standout. Wine bottles and grapes were added to highlight the main purpose of the trip, to go on wine tours. I added a tourist of the target demographic to help potential buyers better identify if the trip would be appropriate for them. Lastly, the color choices of the text are meant to mirror the wine color and tie everything back to the thought of Italian wine tours, while appealing to the target demographic.

Hero Image
I created this hero image for REI.com’s Used Gear section. After analyzing the visual styles for the other hero images on REI.com, I found that the Used Gear section didn’t really relate back to the gear and looked like it belonged to a travel page instead. The color of the font was vibrated against the background, detracting from the intention of the page. I created an updated version, using Creative Commons imagery, utilizing mask and layering effects, and raw filters. The hero image I created toned down the contrasting text and linked the imagery back to the Used Gear section. The changes made were to encourage shoppers to stay on the page longer and explore what products are available without being driven away by mixed messages and clashing colors.

GIF
This GIF was created for Farmina Pet Foods' social media site by building on my previous Photoshop experience. I analyzed Farmina’s Facebook posts and they did not share the same visual language with their website. The website was more formal with large glossy magazine style hero images, while the social media posts were very informal, often poorly lit, and didn’t represent the quality expected, based on the website. A GIF is a good choice for social media since the slight movement attracts attention. I selected bright colors and lighting for this GIF to attract the attention of fast scrolling social media consumers.
